The town of Youghal is steeped in history and heritage. The Local Studies Library has put together an exhibition which explores some of this history and this will be on display in the LHQ Gallery in the County Library Building from 14th to 25th of August.

The exhibition includes 8mm film recorded by William Matthes of events in the town in the 1960s and 1970s, photographs from the Horgan Collection, artefacts and photographs from Youghal Carpets, an exhibition on the bridges of Youghal and a podcast on Florence Newton, ‘The Witch of Youghal’.

This project has been funded by The Heritage Council and Cork County Council.

The Local Studies Library would like to thank the members of the Youghal Carpets History Group, the Horgan family and Catherine Matthes for allowing us to use material from their archives in this exhibition.

All welcome. No booking required. For more information contact us on 021 4285640 or email localstudieslibrary@corkcoco.ie.
