This exhibition of Cork’s unique role in the history of the War of Independence and Civil War was compiled by staff from the Local Studies Library and the Heritage Office of Cork County Council, and was supported by the Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sport and Media. The 24-panel exhibition details many noteworthy events from these momentous years in Irish history. It also includes descriptions of key figures such as Tom Barry, Liam Lynch, Michael Collins and the role of women and Cumann na mBan, as well as reflections on the civilian experience.
This exhibition is currently on view in Mallow Library until the end of June. The exhibition will be in Mitchelstown Library during the month of July.
