National Heritage Week is a time each year when we are encouraged to celebrate Ireland’s cultural, natural and physical heritage.
This year’s theme – Exploring Our Foundations – invites us to delve into the building blocks of our heritage; not just the structures, but the landscapes and cultural activities that have shaped us.
National Heritage Week 2025 will run from Saturday August 16th to Sunday August 24th, and to celebrate, there will be events and exhibitions held in libraries all across Cork County.

Road Bowling Exhibition at the LHQ Gallery
Road bowling though not as visible as some other sporting pastimes, is no less fascinating a sporting pursuit. Colin Robins and Michael Bradley have put together a wonderful collection of black and white photographs of road bowling in Armagh and Cork. The exhibition is open daily in the LHQ Gallery in the County Library Building.
August 8th to 27th.
The exhibition is open Monday to Friday, 9am to 5.30pm. All welcome.
